The season of your life where you are in your engaged era will be relatively short. It may sometimes feel like you are counting down the days, but in the grand scheme of things… it will fly by. If you’re intentional about planning a wedding day that speaks to you, you can pretty easily skirt a lot of the stress and anxiety that comes with wedding planning and instead choose to celebrate each and every little milestone. For Taz + Alex, that meant scheduling their engagement photos on a day when they were already prepping for a wedding task: picking up their marriage license from the iconic City Hall in Manhattan. Tazmin combined her hair and makeup trial for the event, which helped add to the excitement of Doing Wedding Things! They wanted to make it more than just another check off the list, so we celebrated by running through their city, stealing kisses and visiting each place that means so much to them :’) They are proud of the life they’ve built here in New York and wanted to honor that in every way they could through photos – and let me tell ya, they DID!!!

Tazmin and Alex had a mission for this session: to share their pastimes, fond memories, and story through photos and words. They reminisced about the best parties, favorite subway stops, frequented delis, and the little corner of the city they call home. We captured it all, creating snapshots of the memories that have shaped their love story.

Taking the Subway

The 1 train is their train. It is the end of every perfect night together, the meeting spot for so many last minute dates, and the final sigh of relief at the end of a long day. They ride it so often and it’s such a big part of their life, so photos were a must! I wanted to capture the rhythm of their love, day to day life, and their story, because it’s so special.

Cheers to the Memories

On our walk back to their apartment, we made another stop to a bar + cafe that a good friend owned, which turned out to be so fitting. Part of their story is their friends, and you can see that Taz and Alex wanted every part intertwined in their photos! We drank, people watched, reminisced on old memories, and admired the sun setting behind the NJ skyline.

A Stroll in the Park, Puppy Kisses, and a Day to Remember

Taz and Alex spend a lot of time exploring the city and finding spots they love, so we went to Hudson River Park at the end of the day. They didn’t choose this park randomly. I mean admittedly, if you are going through the list of best NYC parks, Hudson River Park might just barely eek by. But we weren’t visiting this park for the vast hiking trails or the views of the skyline. We chose it because it is the most special park to Tazmin and Alex; it’s where they walk Ama every night :’) We could not in any way have an engagement session for these two without including their whole world!
