Wil and Caelan’s Manhattan City Hall elopement was the definition of laid-back, chill, and sweet. With a love story straight out of a rom-com, their relationship was that “will they, won’t they” kind of romance. And just like in Taylor Swift’s words, theirs is an invisible string type of love—destined to be together no matter the twists and turns. Their wedding was a two-day celebration, starting with a simple, intimate City Hall elopement followed by candle-making, ice cream, and exploring the streets of Chinatown. Day two was dedicated to honoring their Filipino heritage with a larger celebration filled with family, tradition, and love.
The day started at Manhattan City Hall, with their families waiting on the street outside, ready to celebrate. There’s something about an elopement in the city—it can feel like just another day as a New Yorker: wandering the streets, filming TikToks, fanning yourself in the summer heat, and just soaking in the simplicity of it all. Wil and Caelan embraced every minute, making the city theirs, no stress, no pressure—just love.
After their city hall ceremony, the couple gathered friends and family at Lanterne Candle Lab, where they spent the afternoon making candles together. The atmosphere was so calm and peaceful, and the experience itself was an amazing way to bring loved ones into the celebration. It wasn’t just about a wedding—it was about creating something together, surrounded by the people they care about most. (P.S. Candle making at Lanterne is a great way to celebrate any type of event!)
Once the candle-making was complete, the three of us snuck away to Yu & Me Books, a special bookstore that supports immigrant stories and communities. Both Wil and Caelan’s families have immigrant backgrounds, so this visit held deep significance. Together, they chose books to take home—another sweet way to honor their roots and give back to a cause close to their hearts.
No NYC day is complete without dessert, right? After the bookstore, a group of friends joined Wil and Caelan for ice cream at Soft Swerve. Sharing cones and smiles, it was the perfect ending to the first part of their two-day celebration. Later, they grabbed drinks and continued the party—a carefree summer night filled with love, laughter, and good company.
The next day was all about honoring Wil and Caelan’s heritage. Held at Torissi, this celebration was the “everybody” event, with friends, family, and out-of-towners all invited to share in the joy. Caelan’s sister and her boyfriend performed the ceremony, making it extra special and personal. It was a beautiful nod to their Filipino roots, blending tradition and love in the most thoughtful way.
