When I think about Deeksha and Perry, I think about a hopeless romantic, infinite, rom-com-in-New-York-City kind of love. From the very beginning stages of planning, they knew they wanted photos that felt true to themselves, in a place that felt true, too. Their love story found a perfect backdrop on the steps and within the walls of the New York Public Library (a dream, right?!). Literally all I could picture over and over was Carrie Bradshaw standing inside her WEDDING VENUE she chose during Sex and the City proclaiming that it’s the perfect wedding venue because “it’s the classic New York landmark that housed all the great love stories.” I mean seriously, the NYPL couldn’t be any more perfect for a classic love story!

On this cloudy, moody day, the rain added a touch of drama to their love story. I really romanticize a rainy New York; there’s something so magical and romantic about it. The city, drenched in a soft mist, feeling like I could be in a literal movie and I wouldn’t even know it. And you know as they walked up the steps, raindrops falling from the clouds, the golden warmth of the library enveloping them… it was giving Fearless 🫶

“And I don’t know how it gets better than this, you take my hand and drag me head first: fearless. And I don’t know why, but with you I’d dance in a storm in my best dress: fearless…”

Even on a Rainy Day, Love Shines Through

I know the feeling of nervousness when you see the weather forecast for your session day and there’s rain everywhere! Let me tell you: this rainy day proved that your New York City engagement session is not weather-dependent! Let’s run in the rain OR find a cozy indoor space to capture your love and I promise, you will not be disappointed. (In fact, sometimes it’s even MORE fun and beautiful!) There are so many spaces out of the rain and inside that are perfect for photos, so if rain unexpectedly comes on your day, don’t fret! For example, the NYPL not only provided an elegant indoor setting but also an opportunity to step outside, still under cover so that NYC was part of all the vibes!

It Feels Like Home In New York City

Deeksha and Perry are getting married in Portugal, but they wanted their engagement photos to reflect the feeling of home in their relationship. New York City, of COURSE, was the natural choice, because it holds such a special place in their hearts and to their story! I was absolutely stoked, because not only does New York City make me excited, but shooting in a place that feels completely and totally YOU is my absolute FAVORITE!

A Timeless and Romantic Love Story

Deeksha and Perry’s engagement session at the New York Public Library was truly one that is timeless, romantic, and steadfast. It felt like home capturing their love in New York City. Rain or shine, this day was absolutely beautiful, proving that no matter what the weather, it’s going to be the best and most fun day ever! As they continue their journey- from New York to Portugal, and from Portugal into forever, these photographs will forever remind them of the love they shared amidst the books in the library, paintings on the walls, and the soft melody of raindrops in the heart of New York City. It’s such an honor to have captured a New York love story.
